What Hill Academy parents, students, and teachers have to say:

★★★★★

When (our son) started at Hill Academy, there were only six weeks left in the school year, and honestly, we were just trying to survive….From the very first week, something started to shift. He was waking up on his own to get to school. He was telling us about the other kids. He started doing schoolwork without us asking—something we’d never seen from him before. He was more open, more engaged in conversations, and just generally more mature. At home, he was cheerful, helpful, and wanted to be involved in family life again. It honestly felt miraculous.

We’re convinced this change came from the structure, care, and intentional challenge he experienced at Hill Academy. He felt safe, seen, and valued. His academics improved in ways we didn’t expect, but more importantly, he’s growing in character. We are so deeply thankful for this school and how they’ve loved our son—and our whole family—in such a short time.

Mrs. Hill has had one of the most positive impacts on my life. She always brings life lessons…ones that I will hold on to forever. If ever I have something wrong (in my school work), she doesn’t make me feel stupid. She helps things make more sense. I can honestly say I have never liked a teacher like I do Mrs. Hill. She is definitely a teacher I would recommend to anyone.

“Hill Academy has been a great blessing to our family this past year.  After attending Hill Academy, our 12 year old daughter has progressed a lot in her social skills, confidence, and general outlook on life.  Academically, she has especially grown the most in her writing skills.  Before going to Hill Academy, she thought she couldn’t write more than a couple sentences.  Now after having Mrs. Hill as her writing teacher, our daughter can write entire papers!  The difference in such a short time is amazing.  We’re very thankful for Hill Academy and are looking forward to next year!”

Hill Academy does not grade students in a traditional sense. Because of our small teacher-to-student ratio, teachers have the benefit of knowing each child well and can monitor progress and set expectations that are appropriate for each individual student. At the end of each term, teachers will administer comprehensive exams to evaluate students’ broad understanding. These exams may be oral or written, depending on the needs of the students and the curricular content. These exams are then reviewed by teachers and shared with parents. Grading for high school students will be different than other grade levels.
